Homeless with a home
A new social model to which architecture must give shape
Following a social study on the homeless complex phenomenon, it emerged that there are various types of homeless people who differ in degrees of vulnerability, social deprivation, and different needs. This project focuses on the chronic homeless who live in this condition permanently and who are currently growing in Milan.
The stance is to treat the social problem not from the emergency point of view by adopting an innovative social model of assisted cohabitation. It is placed in the middle between the dormitory system and that of the permanent home, favoring different degrees of sharing and privacy and opportunities for relationships and assistance in education to aid social reintegration.
The project is the architectural translation of this model in which the house is only one of the ingredients of social reintegration together with the dialogue with the neighborhood community.
